Chinese Brown Stir-Fry Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 150ml chicken stock or water
  • 1 tsp cornflour
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Optional:
- 1 clove garlic (minced)
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- White pepper

Instructions

  1. In a bowl combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar, and stock.
  2. Add the cornflour and stir until fully dissolved.
  3. Mix in the sesame oil.

Cooking

  1. Heat a wok or frying pan with a little oil.
  2. Stir-fry your meat or vegetables until nearly cooked.
  3. Add garlic and ginger if using and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Pour in the sauce mixture.
  5. Stir constantly as the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients.

Notes

  • Dark soy sauce adds colour and richness.
  • Works well with beef, chicken, prawns, broccoli, mushrooms, or mixed vegetables.
  • Serve with Perfect Steamed Rice.
